Who We Are

       As friends growing up in Utah we often had similar likes, interests, and hobbies.  With the passing of time and events however, we have since changed and dispersed in our efforts to achieve our individual goals in life.  Now, with a common goal in mind, we are coming together on this blog in our efforts to achieve it.  Our goal is to progress and improve as athletes and maintain a healthy lifestyle.  All of us are at different levels, have different strengths, and are even in different cities but we have a shared desired that will keep us close.  


The Purpose

The Problem

       One of the hardest challenges with exercise and training is finding the time and having the motivation to continue to do it day after day.  Sometimes the last thing you want to do is get up early and go run six miles in the freezing cold darkness of the morning.  Sometimes it's the thought of having to shower a second time that day so you can squeeze in a swim between work and that thing you promised to attend.  Training for triathlons, centuries, and marathons can be ridiculously time consuming and difficult on the body and mind.  Each day as life gets more and more busy, it only gets harder.

The Solution

       The fact is, there will always be something else that you could be doing rather than training and those things often seem more appealing. Because lets face it, there isn't much glory in being a weekend warrior and if we miss a workout here and there nobody knows and nobody cares.  Now maybe we should clarify that point because there are obviously people who care.  We all have friends and family who support us and are happy to see us accomplish our goals.  But at the end of the day, do they really care?  I mean really REALLY care?  The answer is no.  Yes they want to see us better ourselves and achieve our dreams and such, but they don't really care what those dreams are, just that they exist.  So why do we keep going?  What is it that fuels our desire to set aside time to train?  Push our bodies to the limit?  The answer is different for everyone but there is one common theme, love.  It may be the love you have for the sport, the lifestyle, the challenge, or it might be the love you have for your family.  Because when you're unhealthy you can't support your family as well as when you're fit.  So through love we find the motivation we need to continue to train and better ourselves.  Unfortunately, after all that, love is not always enough and that is why we need other motivations in order to succeed.
  
       This blog is designed to help us with our motivation to train and accomplish our goals.  By tracking our progress on this site we will feel a greater sense of accountability with our training.  If we get lazy and decide to take it easy on a workout then it won't just be ourselves that know it. As readers, friends, family, or internet creepers it is your responsibility to help us stay on track.  You can do this by simply leaving comments on the blog, sending us a text (assuming you have our numbers.  I'm looking at you internet creepers.), or talk to us in person.  Support is crucial in the success of any race and we want all of you to be our support!

The Name

       Anyone who has participated in a triathlon before will know the significance of the two transitions in the race.  Every second spent in transition is another second added to your overall time.  T1 and T2, as they are called, are your opportunities to prepare for the next leg in the race and a botched transition can be very detrimental.  That is why the very first "transition," T0, is the most important part of any race.  We may have come up with the term ourselves, but transition zero refers to the time you have in preparation of a race.  It's all the months of training you do that get you physically and mentally ready to achieve your goals.  It's a fitting title for this blog, which is focused on our training as well as our overall buildup to races.  Hopefully it will be a good reminder to us that what we do now will determine how successful we are when we step up to the starting line.
